WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Artist Aileen Barr will guide you through the process of creating public art projects with handmade tile. With her 25 years of experience creating artwork for stairways, parks, schools etc., she will give a presentation on a variety of her work and discuss how to coordinate a successful project from initial ideas to installation. She will also explore creative ways of working with communities. Part of the workshop will be hands- on, you will have the opportunity to design and create a handmade multi-tile piece which will include cutting, carving, decorating etc. Installation techniques will also be discussed. Bring: your own clay sculpting tools and basic clay working tools; design ideas and imagery that you would like to use for a tile design project. LUNCH, or food can be purchased nearby by car.
