Workshop Description
This one-day workshop will introduce the student to the world of mono-printing on clay, and the many visual effects that can only be achieved in this method of transferring underglaze paintings from plaster slab to clay. Effects such as "Instant Fresco", "Doin' the Rembrandt" and "Double Running" are inventions of the new mono-print. Further examples, such as the format of the "open book", where the artists will create printed "pages" on a sculptural form, will allow the students to understand how to expand a technique into a new art form. Mono-printing on clay is an extremely inventive way to explore the intimate world of printmaking through the eyes of the clay sculptor. Students should have a basic comfortability with the clay/ceramic material and a working ability to paint and draw.
We will bisque fire your work for later pick up if you wish.
Come join the fun and meet our community!

First, as a graduate student, at the University of California at Davis, under Robert Arneson and Manuel Neri, he entered the Master of Fine Arts program as a figurative sculptor during the late 1970's after completing a Master of Arts in painting at the California State University of Sacramento. His second phase was as an artist in residence at the University of Georgia, Athens from 1981 to 1982. Gonzalez's attitudes towards art changed through his exposure to a creative life-style that blended music and visual art. The third phase of Gonzalez's career was through his involvement in the early 1980's East Village Art Scene, in New York City, which fast-forwarded public recognition of his work. Arthur currently teaches at California College of the Arts in Oakland, Ca. His website is: www.arthurgonzalez.com Questions? Contact Liz Lauter [email protected] |
