Artist Donna Billick and her assistant will bring all the materials and techniques, for a hands-on experiential based learning environment. You will design and fabricate an artwork, learn how to organize, fund and install a permanent, durable artwork along with your students. Creativity, visual thinking, collaboration and communication will be topics of discussion. The tools and materials will be supplied, you bring the willingness to grow new skills and make art appear on your campus with the community and students. The theme is “Peace by Piece “meaning:
The workshop will involve casting three dimensional forms out of cement, the assembly of mosaic artworks to surface both the three dimensional cast forms and mounting onto cement backer boards for a two dimensional mural application. The final step will involve grouting and a discussion about installation.
