As a retired college professor who has remade herself into a part-time art teacher in Napa – I want to commend you and MCOE for sponsoring a fabulous workshop for art teachers. I’ve often felt our schools were excellent sites for adult education, community workshops, and non-profit conferences. The recent workshop for art teachers was entitled: Textures and Templates Saturday, Jan. 25th 10am to 4pm. Redwood High School Over 24 local art teachers attended this enriching, creative, and inspiring workshop. Not only did we learn new approaches, obtain an array of affordable resources – we also were able to share and build community amongst ourselves. The workshop teacher and Liz Lauter were attuned to the tight budgets and student challenges that many teachers face in providing high quality art classes. They were so supportive of art teachers and drew upon inexpensive and accessible resources and materials. During the workshop, as artists, we were able to pursue our passions and careers. Here are some notes to share from the workshop: RESOURCES : Lynn: potterytexturequeen.com SCRAP: Store in S.F. for scraps, recycle.
